🗒️ Notes

For a while now, I have been sharing the photos I take on Flickr. One feature of Flickr really impressed me: it shows when the photo was actually taken.

So it does not only display the date the photo was uploaded to the site or app, but also the real time the photo was captured.

I think this is a great feature that should also exist on other photo sharing websites and apps.

📅 03 May 2026

I made a small update to my site that I personally liked. The timeago system I was using before for dates did not feel very appealing. For example, posts shared on different days last month were all shown simply as 1 month ago.

That felt a bit too generic and careless to me.

So I created a cleaner and more realistic solution without loading any external JavaScript source. Now every post shows its own actual day difference, such as 3 days ago or 27 days ago. It may be a small detail, but I think it improves the overall feeling of the site.

Actually, everything was going well, but because of some limitations I had on Ubuntu, I had to switch back to Windows 10 today after about six months. I didn’t move to Windows 11 because my laptop doesn’t meet the system requirements, and even though there are ways around it, I didn’t want to install it.

Even though Microsoft’s update support for Windows 10 has ended, I’ll keep using it for a while. Maybe I’ll move to Windows 11 later.

When my domains expired, i realized… This is year 16 of this blog.

O don’t even remember the day i started, but one thing stayed the same: I keep coming back here, from time to time.

A lot has changed, time has passed… but this place is still here.

📅 20 April 2026

Lately, I’ve been neglecting this site and the others I own. I hadn’t even checked my email for days. A few days ago, when I tried to access my sites, I noticed they weren’t working. It turned out that the domain names had expired. Fortunately, I realized it early and renewed them, bringing the sites back online.

📅 20 April 2026

I have a lot on my mind. Social life, work, the projects I’m working on, and new ones I want to start…

📅 23 February 2026

I realized I’ve been neglecting this place for a while. I need to pay more attention to it.

Schedule Power On Off I really like these kinds of features on smartphones — they genuinely feel user-focused and actually useful. For example, the scheduled power on/off option. At first it sounds unnecessary, but once you start using it, you realize how practical it is.

I especially like having my phone automatically turn off at night and power back on in the morning. It keeps me away from unnecessary notifications and helps create a kind of digital discipline. It also has a small but nice impact on battery health.

📅 30 November 2025

I’ve actually been following this philosophy for a while, but I only learned today that it’s called IndieWeb. IndieWeb is short for Independent Web, which literally means “a web you independently own and control.” In short, it’s about publishing and controlling your content on your own website instead of social media — a “tweet” becomes a “note”, and your domain is your identity. The idea of owning my data has always felt right to me.

I’ve been driving manual transmission cars all my life, and my own car is also a manual. Today, I drove a car with an automatic transmission for the first time — for 151 kilometers. It was an interesting experience not using my left foot.

📅 25 October 2025

I deactivated my Facebook account again a few days ago. It had long ceased to be a place where I actively shared things or communicated with people. I had deactivated it years ago and didn’t use it for a long time. A couple of years ago, I reactivated it, thinking I might see some old friends and reconnect with them. However, I didn’t achieve that expectation, and over time, Facebook became just a place I occasionally checked.

Other social media platforms (except Instagram) have not been very active for me either. I’ve been using Instagram for the past 1–2 years to share the places I visit as a kind of memory. I use Twitter primarily to follow the news.

By transitioning my blog to its current structure, I plan to share both written and visual content, and in fact, I intend to distance myself further from social media.

Ubuntu For over a month now, I’ve switched back to a Linux-based operating system and started using Ubuntu 25.04 (Plucky Puffin). I’m not new to Linux; in the past, I’ve always used Windows on one computer and a Linux-based OS on another.

I still use Windows 10 on my desktop, but for convenience, I mostly spend my time on my laptop. With Windows 10 support ending and my laptop not meeting some of the requirements for Windows 11 (although it can be installed in some way), choosing a fast and straightforward operating system became my priority. That’s why Ubuntu became my preference.

I’ve been using my Huawei Watch GT 2 Sport for about three years now, and I think it’s finally time for an upgrade. It still meets most of my needs, but since it can’t display full message or email contents and doesn’t allow replying to incoming messages, I feel it’s time to move on. Many people prefer analog watches over digital or smart ones, but I really enjoy the convenience that technology brings. Also, due to my work, I’m not always able to access my smartphone instantly. That’s why the conveniences offered by smartwatches—such as answering calls, replying to SMS, or viewing email content—are the most important features for me. I think the model I’ll upgrade to will probably be the Huawei GT 6 or the Pro version.

I once heard a saying: “Be kind to your mother, because she’s living this life for the first time.” It stuck with me. Then I thought, why limit it to mothers? It applies to all of us. So I reshaped it, and here’s the version that became mine.

Everyone is living this life for the first time, so don’t judge anyone by their mistakes.

I’m planning to write a post about this new Jekyll blog theme I made soon. I’ll also make it available on GitHub so everyone can use it.

I keep forgetting the 301 redirect, so it’s better to keep it here. In the front matter of the old content, add layout: redirected and the target content URL as redirect_to: /new-post.

📅 27 September 2025

My blog supports PWA, but while Chrome on one phone shows the “Install App” notification, the same browser on another phone doesn’t display it. I’m trying to figure out why.

📅 26 September 2025

One of my favorite features on Samsung phones is Modes and Routines. It makes daily life so much easier by automating simple things I would otherwise have to do manually. For example, when I get close to home, it automatically turns off mobile data and connects to Wi-Fi. Another routine announces with a voice notification when the phone is fully charged.

If you don’t want the notification to keep popping up, try pressing the x.

Are blogs dead?

No. Legends don’t die, they just change form :)

📅 22 September 2025

I’m currently working on a new design, so you might see unnecessary posts, notes, or photos. Sorry about that.
